Overview
Bordeaux welcome Paris Saint-Germain hoping their excellent record against the visitors will help them maintain their hold on top spot in Ligue 1.The champions have won 20 of their 34 previous encounters with the club from the capital at the Stade Chaban-Delmas, while PSG have triumphed on just one occasion on their last 19 visits. Yoann Gourcuff is available again after recovering from an adductor problem. Gourcuff's return is all the more welcome given the suspensions to Wendel and Fernando. PSG will head to the south-west in optimistic mood beacuse of the last Wednesday's 5-2 against Boulogne. Antoine Kombouaré's men have proved themselves more than capable away from the pressures imposed by the demanding Parc des Princes crowd, taking half of their points on their travels. They have struck 14 times away from home - as opposed to nine times at the Parc. While Bordeaux currently boast Ligue 1's best defence (10 goals conceded) PSG's chances of keeping their hosts at bay are better with the return to fitness of Marcos Ceara and Mamadou Sakho. Though first-choice keeper Grégory Coupet faces up to three months out after breaking a leg in the win over Auxerre.
Recommendation: The game could hinge on whether PSG can maintain their concentration and fitness in the final half-an-hour. Bordeaux have scored 12 of their 23 goals so far in the final 30 minutes and that should particularly wary PSG as they have conceded 10 of their 15 goals this season in the second halves of games, with eight coming in the final 15 minutes.
