Sunderland Arsenal Sunderland- Arsenal
Sunderland
Out: Angeleri, Bendtner, Bramble, Brown, Cattermole, Gyan, Kilgallon, Noble, Vaughan
Doubts: Gordon
We were about to give up Sunderland in their last visit to the frozen pitch of the Britannia Stadium. With the lone short Sessegnon on the top, the attack seemed pretty harmless in those conditions. However, he placed few dangerous shots and one of them was a header. Mc Lean continued with his good performance up- front the forwards’ actions wouldn’t be effective as in the last fixtures even against the not brilliant Arsenal defence. There was pretty much wrong communication in the midfield (mostly because of the weather) and the players will be tired after the tough FA Cup clash in the midweek. There is no doubt- the Black cats make very positive run (and O’Neill does his job very well), but they faced mediocre sides on his way.
Arsenal
Out: Abou Diaby, Santos, Frimpong, Gervinho, Jenkinson, Wilshere
Doubts: Gibbs
After the Sagna’s return we could see Gibbs to be once against in the list (most likely Vermaelen to start on the left hand side of the line). With a typical full- backs Arsenal would be more solid at the back as we saw against Blackburn. The midfield (Arteta and Rosicky tore apart the defence of the bottom side with many quality passes) is better than the Sunderland’s one and we can not even compare the forward line. Wolcott and van Persie are capable to communicate between themselves without seeing. And what about the young English star Oxlade- Chamberlain- great run, very good timing and with his presence both flanks seem recovered after the departure of Nasri.
Tip: Asian Handicap (Arsenal -0.25)- Odds: 1.84 Stake: 7/10
