Fulham Stoke Fulham- Stoke
Fulham
Out: Briggs, Grygera, Johnson, Sidwell, Senderos
Doubts: Sá
Expected Formation: Schwarzer; Kelly, Hangeland, Hughes, Riise; Murphy, Baird; Duff, Dempsey, Dembélé; Pogrebnyak
Each player from the Fulham defence could be blame for the defeat from Manchester City in the last round. Baird scored an own goal and made the tackle for the penalty; Senderos and Kelly were outran by Aguero many times; Hangaland often couldn’t take the right position next to Dzeko. The situation in the attack also wasn’t on the usual level after Demsey tried only few shots from distance and the biggest opportunities were created by the defender Riise. That’s why Jol could continue complaining of the strikers’ shortage. Update: The work permit of Pogrebnyak i OK and he is likely to start on the top.
Stoke
Out: Higginbotham, Sidibe
Suspended: Huth
Expected Formation: Sorensen; Wilkinson, Woodgate, Shawcross, Wilson; Pennant, Whelan, Palacios, Etherington; Crouch, Walters
Stoke are almost with the same troubles. Jerome was put in the starting line- up against Sunderland, but even his good form (he scored four hits in his last six appearances) didn’t help to the Potters. Tall and strong men as him and Crouch should cope better with their responsibilities in the match. Considering the tough players from both sides and their willingness to avoid another consecutive loss, we couldn’t expect many goals. Stoke lost the last encounters because of individual mistakes (especially the previous one with the unnecessary sliding tackle in the opponents’ half by Huth ) and the defence would be capable to achieve a decent result. Pulis will be forced to make big rotations in the starting line- up after his side is involved in FA Cup and Euroap League. Etherington could be back as winger and hopefully he would improve his form.
Tip: Asian Handicap (Under 2.25 goals)- Odds: 1.98 Stake: 8
