With their 31 points in the last Apertura Colon look pretty sure in their staying in the Primera, furthermore they will try to compete with Velez and Lanus for the to position in Clausura. The hosts would try to repeat the performance without a lot of clamour and still relying on Esteban Fuertes, who will celebrate his 40th anniversary this year, to be the main goal scorer. The symbol of the club’s form hasn’t decreased obviously after he scores almost in 50% of the games. Both newcomers Leandro Gracián (from Boca) and Gerardo Alcoba hardly would make a big change of the team play, because they haven’t played enough in the last season. Looking at the men, who left the side, only Salustiano Candia deserved to be noticed as a minus for the defence. The manager Pelusso has to make as smooth transition in the attack as he can, considering the old forwards.
The Arsenal’s first task is to remain in the league and with the results in Apertura it doesn’t seem very hard. Carlos Carbonero and Jorge Córdoba are the new faces of the guests, but the latter would need time do adjust after his bad season (with zero hits and few appearances). The strong striker has already scored for Copa Libertadores and he would be valuable in the future. Arsenal are fighting in three competitions and it would make the season complicated.
We would support the hosts, but the unenviable home records of Colon make us searching for somewhat a cover.
