Togo National Football Team Has Been Attacked, Two Players Shot

 

The official bus of Togo national team has been attacked by terrorists. The squad was traveling to Angola for the African Cup of Nations when near the border of Kongo a fire from a machine guns have been opened. The bus driver was killed, six players have been wounded - two of them are with serious injuries.

According to Manchester City press release Emmanuel Adebayor is safe. However goalkeeper Obilale Kossi and central defender Serge Akakpo have been shot and their condition is critical.

"We were machine-gunned like dogs," Togo player Thomas Dossevi, who plays Nantes, told Radio Monte Carlo. "They were armed to the teeth ... We spent 20 minutes underneath the seats of the bus."

He also added "We don't want to play this African Cup of Nations. All I can think about is stopping this competition and going home."

Togo had to begin their campaign in the tournament on Monday against the national team of Ghana.
