Rudi Voeller : " I don't want to come back in the coaching business"

Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voeller can no longer imagine a commitment as a coach. "Basically yes. if there is need, I could take such a position for a short time. But for a long term commitment ,No, under any circumstances. I just do not have this passion," said the 49-year-old world champion from 1990 for "Kicker".

Aunt Katie was German National team coach for 4 years from 2000 to 2004. After that he took Roma, but he left the club after only one month due to series of poor results and vast disagreement with the players. He is working now as caretaker manager for more than five years and it seem like his work is paying off as the team is now in the lead in the Bundesliga.

"The work in Leverkusen  is close to my heart. I love it. I was a player, sports manager and a trainer here - everything fits."

"I can not  predict where we will end up at the end of the season. But It seems like we will play in Europe" said modestly the former world-class striker.
