Grasshoppers could face forced relegation
Thursday , 12.11.2009
Highly indebted Grasshoppers require guarantees of 4.5 million francs till the end of November, to avoid being punished by the Swiss Football League
The debt reduction is a race against time as the club could face financial fines, points deductions and even exclusion from the championship. There is a big possibility the license of the club not to be renewed, which will lead to forced relegation in the middle of the next summer.
The figures show a loss of 10 million francs instead of the expected 5 million, difference caused by the huge spendings on transfers, players agents and coaches.
GC patron Heinz Spross is ready to make a short-term guarantee of two millions, but still the situation in the club is very questionable.
