Villareal at the bottom of Primera Division
Tuesday , 20.10.2009
Once again Villareal disappointed their fans losing the game away to Xerez (1:2). It was the seventh defeat for the team this season, sending Villareal last in the table holding only 3 points.
The current situation puts coach Ernesto Valverde's future at steak, despite president Fernando Roig's determination that nobody is more suitable for Villareal than Valverde. Xerez gained victory thanks to goals achieved by Bermejo (42.) and Antoñito (80.).
Villareal's Prado received a red card three minutes before the end of the game leaving his team without a chance for a point. French midfielder Robert Pires who scored the only goal for Villareal, insulted the referee after the game.
