Auxerre wouldn't rely to Jelen next season

Auxerre wouldn't rely to Jelen next season

The top striker of French Auxerre Ireneusz Jelen had decided to leave his club. The thirty- year international player (Poland) has agreed with the board of the team. The owners didn’t extend his contract, because of his very big salary, which is too heavy for the decreased financial capabilities of Auxerre.

The forward is one of the many offensive players in the French team which is fighting for its salvation in Ligue One. He will stay till the end of the season and after that will try to join to a club in the leading European championships. Few famous ones from Eastern Europe are interested in him- Zenit (St Peterburg) and Olimpiakos (Pirea).

Jelen is one of the emblematic men in Auxerre since he signed with them in 2006. His performance is vital for the club after he is in good form and scored twice against Sochaux two rounds ago. We believe he will continue to score and that way he will be more attractive to the big European teams.
