Wigan look to finish the business with Rayo Vallecano

Wigan are hopeful of completing a deal for Rayo Vallecano midfielder Mohamed Diame.

The 22-year-old's move from Spain has so far been held up by a medical issue, but Latics boss Roberto Martinez believes Diame is close to joining.

Having sold midfielder Lee Cattermole to Sunderland last week, Martinez is keen to find suitable replacements.

Diame's former Rayo Vellecano team-mate Antonio Amaya signed a three-year contract with the Latics last week.
