Valencia Mata questionable for the derby with Vilarreal
Juan Manuel Mata has withdrawn from the Spain squad for Wednesday's friendly against Portugal because of injury.
The Valencia forward, who was a member of this summer's World Cup-winning squad, is struggling with a knee problem and, according to his club, is a doubt for this weekend's Primera Division derby against Villarreal.
Aside from Mata, neither Fernando Torres or Sergio Ramos trained with their Spain team-mates on Monday evening, although both will travel to Portugal with the rest of the squad the Spanish football federation (RFEF) announced on their website.
Striker Torres suffered an ankle ligament strain during Liverpool's Barclays Premier League defeat at Stoke while Real Madrid defender Ramos picked up a knock during last night's Primera Division win at Sporting Gijon.
Spain, the reigning world and European champions, face Iberian neighbours Portugal in Lisbon on Wednesday in their final match of 2010.
