Kaiserslautern defender Jan Simunek under hernia operation

Kaiserslautern defender Jan Simunek is set to undergo surgery on a hernia in his groin. While being treated for an abdominal muscle injury, a hernia was noticed, and it was later determined that the 23-year-old will require an operation.

The procedure is scheduled to take place on Friday, and should see Simunek miss the next two weeks. The four-times capped Czech international has struggled with injuries since joining Kaiserslautern in the summer, and will be disappointed to have his return set back further.
