Bad news for Wiener Neustadt: Stronach sold the club
It is official, Frank Stronach has retired. The Magna-founder has delivered his power in the company and goes at 78 years old in retirement. The SC Wiener Neustadt faces an uncertain future. Magna's shareholders have expressed a desire to terminate the commitment to the team as soon as possible. But because of the Magna-sponsorship agreement with the Wiener Neustadt that can not happened sonner than the end of this season.
"We do not fear for our existence," said Schöttel last week in sportnet.at interview. "There is still no talk of an end of the era Stronach. And if it should be, it will not happen immediately." The good part: Schöttel works with a young team and many Austrians, where he is quite the success so far. 2-1 against Rapid and with Fornezzi and Kostal- the only two foreign players in the starting XI. And achievements are known to be a good way to open up new sources of money away from Stronach and Magna.
