FC Thun - The Swiss pride

FC Thun started glamorously the championship. The newcomers are with four points from 2 matches, including the draw with the title contestants YB. Looking at their squad, it is noticeable that  Thun employs the fewest foreigners compared with the other teams from Swiss Super League. There are just six players in the team without a Swiss passport. In contrast, there are 18 Swiss players. In comparison, Neuchatel Xamax, the opponents of the previous weekend, the ratio is almost reversed: 17 foreigners and only seven are Swiss.

Before the season sports director Gerber indicated that he would give a preference for domestic players. "It should be easier because they would know the situation here". And of course there was also the economic argument: Swiss players are usually cheaper than foreigners. Money in at FC Thun  certainly does not exist in abundance despite glorious Champions League history.
